Today marks a significant milestone, one that brings a blend of joy, pride, and reflection—my daughter Beatrix Elle Iesha (or simply Elle) is turning 10. It’s a birthday unlike any other because the big “10” stands as a gateway between childhood and a blossoming sense of self. It’s an age where she begins to discover her own identity, pursue her passions with more focus, and step confidently into the next chapter of her life.
The Significance of Turning 10
Turning 10 is not just about double digits; it’s about stepping into a new level of responsibility, maturity, and awareness. It’s a moment to reflect on how far you’ve come, Elle, and a chance to embrace the exciting road ahead. At this age, you’ve already shown resilience, curiosity, and a deep sense of compassion—qualities that will continue to define your journey.
Pride in the Person You’ve Become
Elle, you amaze me every day with the wonderful person you are growing into. As a daughter, your kindness and love fill our home with light. As a sibling, you bring joy and support to Martha and Ethan, showing care and understanding far beyond your years.
As a student, your dedication to learning is something I admire deeply. You approach your studies not just with the goal of excelling, but with genuine curiosity and a thirst for knowledge that will take you far in life. Keep that spirit alive—it will always serve you well.
One of the things I’m most proud of is your growth as a taekwondo practitioner. Taekwondo isn’t just about strength or skill; it’s about discipline, respect, and perseverance. You embody these values every time you step onto the mat. Every kick, every form, and every belt you’ve earned has been a testament to your hard work and determination. Watching you develop in this art has been one of my greatest joys.
Advice as You Step into This New Chapter
As you step into this new decade, I have a few words of wisdom for you, Beatrix:
- Stay True to Yourself – You are uniquely you, and that is your greatest strength. Don’t be afraid to stand up for what you believe in and to pursue your passions, no matter what others say.
- Keep Reaching for Your Dreams – Whether it’s in your studies, your practice of taekwondo, or any other aspiration you hold dear, never stop dreaming big. There will be challenges along the way, but remember that perseverance is the key to success.
- Be Kind to Others, and to Yourself – Kindness is a gift you can give every day. Share it freely with those around you, but don’t forget to show yourself the same compassion. It’s okay to make mistakes, as they are part of growing and learning.
- Work Hard, but Also Have Fun – Success comes with hard work, but don’t forget to enjoy the journey. Celebrate the small victories, laugh often, and remember that life is meant to be lived with joy.
- Believe in Your Potential – There is nothing in this world that you cannot achieve if you set your mind to it. Trust in your abilities, even when the path seems difficult.
To the Best Version of You
As you continue on your journey, Elle, I want you to always strive to be the best version of yourself. Not perfect, but the best you—someone who learns, grows, and constantly pushes to improve. The world is full of possibilities waiting for you to explore, and I have no doubt that you will leave your mark wherever you go.
Keep practicing those taekwondo forms, keep studying with that sparkle in your eyes, keep being the incredible daughter and sibling that you are, and most of all—keep believing in yourself.
I love you endlessly, and I can’t wait to see what the next 10 years hold for you.
Happy 10th Birthday, Elle!
With all my love,
Dad
